Opening of city-operated daycare centres may be affected Wednesday morning.
THUNDER BAY — Environment Canada has issued a Winter Weather Travel Advisory for the City of Thunder Bay.
The advisory is an upgrade from a Special Weather Statement issued late Monday.
Periods of snow will begin overnight Tuesday into Wednesday, followed by a mixture of snow and ice pellets Wednesday morning.
Accumulations of 10 to 15 cm. are possible by Wednesday evening.
Environment Canada cautions that visibility will be reduced in heavy snow at times. Motorists should expect hazardous driving conditions.
The City of Thunder Bay has issued an advisory stating that severe weather may cause a delay in the opening time, or possibly force the closure of city-operated child care centres including Algoma, Grace Remus, Ogden and Woodcrest.
The city will issue an update Wednesday morning.
Communities on the north shore of Lake Superior and in Greenstone can expect 10 to 20 cm. of snow.
A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for Manitouwadge and Hornepayne, which could receive up to 25 cm.
Atikokan and Upsala are forecast to get 10 to 15 cm.
